This memorial stone is in memory of the victims of the 2 bombardments of Enkhuizen during World War II. The stone bears the name and age of 1 victim of the first bombing on 6 October 1940 and the 24 names and ages of the victims of the second bombing on 15 March 1945.
The bombs fell on houses and streets in the harbour area at the time, around the Drommedaris.
NB the photo still shows the old stone on which the name of Leendert Schipper was missing. His name was added to the current monument in 2025.
