Widerstandsnest 141 Magdeburg

The history of this Luftwaffe strongpoint is most interesting. It would seem that the strongpoint was established only in the spring of 1943. Evidence for this can be found in the fact that in March 1943 another Luftwaffe strongpoint carried the name Magdeburg: Widerstandsnest 181 Magdeburg located in the town of Hauteville, south of Saint-Inglevert (in 1944 this strongpoint was called Stützpunkt 529 Lusen and part of the defences of the Landfront.

From the spring of 1943 the Luftwaffe strongpoint (now located on the Mont de Couple) was tasked with defending the radar installations of nearby Stützpunkt 140 Osnabrück and was home to the 3. Batterie/ Reserveflakabteilung 765.

The Reserveflakabteilung 765 appears to have been moved about a lot, with units spread relatively wide apart. Apparently, in 1941-1942 the unit was located near Calais. However, from early 1943 it appears to have been a part of the Flakgruppe Boulogne with 4 batteries, one or more of which was (were) apparently located as far as Dieppe. The unit appears to have stayed in this role until February 1944, after which the unit was moved to Dunkirk.
Around this time the strongpoint became the headquarters of the Heeresflakartillerieabteilung 291.
