Memorial for fallen PTT employees

The monument consists of a column, crowned with a head in which Saint Georges and the dragon have been depicted. On the capital a statue of a straight up standing figure of a man has been placed, a symbol of the resurrection. The lying figures at the foot of the column are the symbols of the victims of the war.

The text on the front of the monument can be translated as follows:
Many fell – so defenceless
like blades of grass for the scythe
some were standing – and sang
sang an old tune
the old tune – of freedom
that vibrates in every living heart.

At the reverse side of the monument the following text can be translated:
Erected
in memory
of the employees of the PTT company
that fell in the years of war
1940 – 1945

* PTT stands for "Post Telefoon Telegraaf" which used to be the national mail- and telecommunications company.
