Commonwealth War Graves Festubert

Festubert municipal cemetery contains 12 Commonwealth war graves from World War II. Of these, six are unidentified. All of these servicemen died between 25 and 29 May 1940 in the run-up to the evacuation of Dunkirk.

The identified graves belong to:
Grave 01: Andrew Anderson, Private, Battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, Deceased 28 May 1940, aged 27.
Grave 02: Charles Ernest Pook, Corporal, 2nd Battalion Dorsethshire Regiment, Died 26 May 1940, aged 33.       
Grave 05: John McLuskie, Private, 6th Battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, Died 28 May 1940, aged 26.
Grave 07: Joseph Ashurst, Drummer, 1/8th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, Died 25 May 1940, aged 24.
Grave 11: Pierce Gray, Private, 2nd Battalion Dorsetshire Regiment, Died 25 May 1940, aged 22.
Grave 12: Alfred John Hare, Private, 2nd Battalion Dorsetshire Regiment, Death 31 May 1940. Age unknown.
