Commonwealth War Graves Île-de-Bréhat

The Île-de-Bréhat municipal cemetery contains 4 Commonwealth war graves from World War II. Of these, 3 are unidentified.

The identified grave belongs to Chaplain W.H. Mitchell. He was chaplain on board the light cruiser HMS Charibdys which was sunk by German torpedo boats on 22 October 1943. Only 103 of the more than 500 people on board survived the disaster.

The three remaining graves are of unknown English sailors of the Royal Navy who washed up on Île-de-Bréhat.
