The text on the plaque:
In 1944 a large number of Dutch East Indies
boys from Malang and the surrounding area
(East Java) were set to work in a prison camp near
the village of Dampit because of their anti-
Japanese attitude.
Many of them ended up in prisons in which
at least 22 of them lost their lives by executions,
torture and hardships.
After that many a survivor suffered permanent
physical and mental damage as a result of the
maltreatments undergone at the prison camp
and prisons.
