Glodok Memorial

The Glodok memorial is a memorial stone. It is a replica of the Glodok memorial stone at the Menteng Pulo memorial cemetry near Jakarta in Indonesia. In 1944 during the occupation of the Dutch Indies the Japanese rounded up Indo-Europeans who were openly against collaborating with the Japanese occupier. They were held at the Glodok convict prison in Batavia. There were many casualties due to torture and starvation.

The text on the memorial stone says:

IN REMEMBRANCE OF THOSE
WHOSE COURAGE AND PERSEVERANCE
CONQUERED DEATH
