Collective Grave Resistance Members & American Pilot Old Churchyard

In this common grave are the remains of four war victims, including an American pilot.

On 29 April 1945, the resistance fighter Jacob Leendert van Rij and the hiding American pilot John E. McCormick were killed in a firefight with Wehrmacht soldiers.

On 5 May 1945, Liberation Day, Jan van Hoorn and Cornelis van Eerden were shot by German soldiers.
