Co-Pilot Lieutenant Arthur L. Clark ordered the rest of the crew to abandon the aircraft and stayed on board to prevent the plane to crash on the town of Wissous. He was killed in the crash. Bombardier Lieutenant Thomas G. Wilkins was killed by German small arms fire in the air or on the ground. The other crew members were taken POW.
