Memorial stone Wellebridge

The monument "The battle to Well Bridge" reminds the people of Koufurderrige in the gun battle between the Dutch Interior Forces and the Germans on April 15, 1945, where a farm went up in flames near the bridge.

De Wellebridge was an important link in the national road from Lemmer to Sneek. In the afternoon of Sunday, April 15, 1945, the Interior Forces Squad Woudsend was instructed to occupy the bridge. Here the Spreng Kommando of the occupier was defused. Then the resistance fighters held three ammunition wagons that came from the direction of Sneek. Ten Germans surrendered and were taken to Osingahuizen.Then Wellebridge could be occupied.
