Former Saltby Airfield

This Airfield was used by the RAF and the USAAF. The best known user of this airfield is the 314th Troop Carrier Group which droppped with their C47 Dakota's para's at D-day (American 82nd Airborne Division) and at Arnhem (British 1st Airborne Division). Nowadays the airfield is used by the Buckminster Gliding Club. Parts of runways and perimeter tracks are clearly visible.
