Armed Services Chapel and Roll of Honour Lincoln Cathedral

In Lincoln Cathedral is a large armed services chapel.

The remembrance book of the Lincolnshire Regiment the names of over 8000 men of the Lincolnshire Regiment who were killed in World War I. There are books for killed servicemen in the airforce and navy as well in additional to many plaques.

The remembrance window and supporting plaque commemorates the men of the Bomber Command who were killed or missing in the Second World War.

The stained glass window is in the St. Michael''s chapel within the Combined Services Chapel. The St. Michael window is dedicated to Bomber Command with its badge flanked by the Union Flag and the Arms of the diocese of Lincoln. Below these a Flt Lt wears a survival flotation jacket and a Leading Aircraftsman holds the ropes of an aircraft wheel chock. At the bottom, Lancaster bombers battle against searchlights and anti aircraft fire. Air Officer Commander in Chief of Bomber Command, Air Marshall Sir George Mills, unveiled this window on 8th May 1954. Window by Harry Stammers of York.
