The Maginot Line's fort Kobenbusch was a part of the i]Secteur fortifié de Thionville.
The garrison consisted of 513 soldiers and 14 officers from the 169th RIF. (Fortress Infantry Regiment). The Kobenbusch fortress was never subjected to a serious attack.
The fort today:
Fort Kobenbusch is now abandoned. Due to the arrival of the nuclear power plant at Cattenom and the raising of the water level of the nearby lake for cooling water, the ouvrage is flooded.
