The Maginot Line's Oberheid ouvrage was a component of the Secteur Fortifié de Thionville.
The garrison consisted of 78 soldiers and 1 officer from the 168th RIF (Fortress Infantry Regiment). In 1940, it was shelled by German artillery.

The ouvrage has been entrusted to the LMSFBC Association, which manages several buildings in the Forest of Cattenom.
