The Maginot Line's Fort Lembach was a part of the Secteur Fortifié des Vosges.
The garrison consisted of 60 men from the 165th RIF (Fortress Infantry Regiment). Fort Lembach saw action on 19 and 20 June 1940.
In 1944, German soldiers sabotaged Lembach before they withdrew towards Germany.
