Memorial Lancaster ED599

This is the crash location of Lancaster ED599 of RAF 156 squadron.

The text on the memorial is:

'They gave their all'

In the night of 22 on 23 June 1943 an aircraft crashed here. It was an RAF Lancaster bomber which was on the return flight from Mülheim in Germany. Over Maarn the aircraft was hit by enemy fire. It came down here, on a heather field next to the farm Aarendal. The seven crew members perished.
