Memorial Killed Journalists

This plaque commemorates the journalists who died in the Second World War.

The poem on the plaque reads:

'1940 -1945

HEAR:
THE FREE WORD
ENDANGERED, SMOTHERED,
BRINGS INTO EMERGENCY
HIS FIGHTERS FORWARD
UNTIL DEATH.'

This poem is by Jan H. de Groot.

The plaque has been placed at the entrance to Nieuwspoort, the press center of the parliamentary press. Nieuwspoort was located at Lange Poten in The Hague until the summer of 2023, but has moved to Bezuidenhoutseweg. The plaque has also been moved to the new location.
