War Memorial Woubrugge

The war memorial of Woubrugge consists of a pedestal in which stands a pole with two flat grounds of the Netherlands, one rusted and bumped and one shiny and polished, connected with a broken chain. It symbolizes the Netherlands during the war and after the liberation. The chain broken by the propeller of a crashed fighter plane symbolizes the sacrifices made for it. The aircraft components originate from a crashed aircraft.
There are three plaques on the front of the monument.

On the night of 21 to 22 July 1944 the
English fighter-bomber Mosquito PZ-174
23th squadron Royal Air Force, crashed in Woubrugge.
Both crew members died in this.

Navigator Pilot Officer Fred B. Woodman RAF (VR) 21 years
