Former outer walls of the Château d'Amfreville on top of a ridge which stretches from Sallenelles in the North to Troarn in the South. This ridge had to be occupied during the first hours of D-day by the 3rd Parachute Brigade to block expected German counter attacks towards the beaches. You can see the most Eastern invasion beach, Sword Beach, from the Château.
