Memorial Royal Engineers Stavanger

This memorial on the Eiganes gravlund cemetery commemorates four Royal Engineers who died during World War II.

THEY WERE ON OPERATION FRESHMAN - A MISSION
TO DESTROY THE HEAVY WATER PLANT AT VEMORK.
THEIR GLIDER CRASHED IN FYLGJESDAL 20 NOV. 1942.
AFTER BEING TORTURED TO DEATH BY THE GESTAPO
IN STAVANGER THEY WERE THROWN IN THE SEA
NEAR KVITSØY - THEY WERE NEVER FOUND

FOR TOMORROW - WE GAVE OUR TODAY
