Originally two breweries were on this location.
Under the building there are vast cellars, where during the Second World War, a thousand people sought refuge for war. As of 31 October 1944 to 5 May 1945, as Geertruidenberg was again a front city, residents stayed frequently in the shelters.
This building is known as the Harbour Station, a former function of the building. In the last century it was transformed into a military hospital. Currently this complex forms the Cultural Center's Schattelijn.
