This memorial commemorates eight people (2 adults and 6 children) who died in an explosion on 24 November 1944 when they were collecting ammunition. They are buried in a collective grave on Schinnen R.C. Cemetery.
The stone with the plaque was the former memorial which stood on the exact location of the explosion. Now it is transferred a bit and is part of a larger memorial together with 8 stones, one for each victim and a poem.
