Ny-Hellesund was a German fortress on the Norwegian island of Ny Hel. The construction began in 1942 and was mainly carried out by some 200 Russian POW's. Large areas of the island are fortificated and several bunkers are interconnected by an underground tunnel system. The main armament of the fortress was a battery composed of four 10,5cm Schneider guns.
