Memorial Stone Fallen Petit Donon

This stone is one of the stones which are located, as a kind of Stations of the Cross, along the trail to the summit of the Petit Donon. The stones are carved by a certain Gefreiter Gebhardt and record numbers of casualties (both French and German) and the regiment.

The making of the stones happened after the Grand and Petit Donon Donon were recaptured on 21 August 1914 by the Germans. The rest of the war they remained in German hands.
