Museum de Roos is located in a building from the 16th century. The museum is dedicated to the history of Geertruidenberg and the centers of Raamsdonk and Raamsdonksveer, with which it forms one municipality. The museum pays attention to more than 700 wars, alloys and occupations in and around Geertruidenberg in the years after the Second World War.
In the back cellar are two double exhibition panels filled with subjects about the Zuiderwaterlinie and the French sieges of Geertruidenberg in 1793 and 1795. Two beautiful models of these sieges and, among other things, an original French military map from 1795 of the siege in that year are part of the collection of Bergse history during the First Coalition War (April 1792 – October 1797).
On the ground floor are two paintings by Mari ten Cate (1831 - 1910) depicting the burning down of the houses on the "Veer" in 1795.
A beautiful model of the Geertruidenberg fortress in 1741 completes the collection about the First Coalition War.
