Monument Lockheed Hudson FK790

In the Casemate Museum Kornwerderzand, there is the tail section of the Lockheed Hudson FK790 that crashed on July 6, 1944. One of the occupants of the aircraft was Jan Bockma, a Dutchman who volunteered for the French Foreign Legion in 1942. He later became a secret agent for the BBO (Bureau Special Assignments). In service of the BBO he made his last flight in this Hudson. During a secret sabotage mission the aircraft was shot down by a German Night Fighter. All occupants died in the crash.

The tail section used to stand on the outside area of the museum. Today it is housed in one of the bunkers in an underwater diorama. The medals of the pilot F/Lt. J.W. Menzies are also on display.
