Memorial Landing Forces Warsaw (A)

This memorial commemorates the Polish and Russian troops who didn't survive the landings on the west bank of the Vistula river at Warsaw.

The text on the memorial stone reads:
"On this bank, elements of the 3rd Infantry Division - LWP (Ludowe Wojsko Polskie) landed under support of Red Army artillery and fighter planes, between 16 and 23 September 1944 with the goal to end the Nazi terror on the residents of Warsaw."

"2056 soldiers and officers of the Polish and Red Army, as well as hundreds of insurgents died a heroic death during this action. Glory to the heroes who fell for the liberation of the motherland."
