Stützpunkt Max - 612 Schartenstand

This Stützpunkt was part of the German Atlantic Wall (Atlantikwall).

The full name of this type was: 612 Schartenstand für land und Sturmabwehregeschütze ohne Nebenräume.

This Stützpunkt is a fine example of how a bay was defended. Today the bay is almost completely silted. Stp Max was defended by the 5th Company of Battalion II / 36. They had a Belgian 75mm field gun, one French 25mm antitank gun, one flamethrower, six machine guns and two mortars.
