Reconstruction Den Draad Assenede

In a few places along the Belgian-Dutch border is a reconstruction of Den Draad (The Wire): The electric fence which was built by the Germans in World War I, along the border to prevent escapes. Hundreds of people have been electrocuted by the fence.

There is a small tunnel under the gate, which was used for smuggling.
