This memorial commemorates the civilian casualties of Kamperland in World War II.
The memorial was unveiled on November 1, 2014, 70 years after the liberation of Kamperland.
On the plaque of the monument are the following names:
Pieter Leendert de Bruin 22 yr. [/ i] (sailor grain ship).
Marinus Lamain 15 yrs. [/ i] (killed passenger of the scheduled bus that was shot at by British aircraft on 22 May 1944).
Govert Leendertse 37 yr. [/ i] (killed bus driver of the regular bus that was shot at by British aircraft on 22 May 1944).
Hendrik Jan de Looff 22 yrs. [/ i] (died in Hanover-Ricklingen).
Abraham Florus de Muijnck, 32 years old. [/ i] (died in concentration camp Neuengamme).
Cornelia Maatje Nelisse 23 yrs. [/ i] (killed passenger of the regular bus that was shot at by British aircraft on 22 May 1944).
Adriaan Cornelis Jacob Schippers 36 yr. [/ i] (sailor grain ship).
Maria Stouthamer van de Kreeke 52 yr. [/ i] (killed passenger of the regular bus that was shot at by British aircraft on 22 May 1944).
Joos Jacobus van der Velde 65 yr. [/ i] (killed in fire caused by the Germans).
Hubrecht Vermeule 55 yrs. [/ i] (killed in shooting by the Germans).
Johannes Versluis 23 yrs. [/ i] (died in Wilhelmshaven).
Part of the plaque has been left empty so that names can be added if it later turns out that more inhabitants of Kamperland have died as a result of war violence.
