The "Fort bij Krommeniedijk (Fort at Krommeniedijk)", model A, was completed in 1903 as part of the Stelling van Amsterdam (Defence Line of Amsterdam, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site).
The fort was mobilized both in 1914-1918 and in 1940. During World War II, the Germans used the fort and after the war, collaborators were imprisoned here.
Part of the fort is a small museum about landscape and nature around the Defense Line. There is also a small restaurant. Another part is inhabited by young people with a disability.
