The "Fort bij Hinderdam (Fort at Hinderdam)" was built in 1879-1880 as part of the New Dutch Water Line (which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site). It was also part of the Stelling van Amsterdam (Defence Line of Amsterdam, which is also an UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Fortress Holland.
The fort was mobilized both in 1914-1918 and in 1940. In 1934, a V.I.S. MG-casemate was built on the fort.
Only some remnants of buildings remain of the fort.
