Crash Locatie Lancaster J B 545 Sonnega

The Memorialwas founded in memory of the seven killed crewmembers of the Lancaster JB 545 (five Englishmen, a Canadian and an Australian) on 16 December 1943 in the farmland to the Sas crashed.

The names of the seven victims are:

W.R. Day,
E. Holloway,
B.J.V. King,
R. Losa,
A. E. Marsland,
G. L. Ratcliffe
W.T. Rees.

The allied Lancaster JB 5454 was on December 16, 1943 along with 496 other devices on the way to Berlin. Above Oldetrijne was the Lancaster shot by German fighters and crashed on the shores of The Linde. All seven crew members died in the crash. They are buried at the General Cemetery in Wolvega.
