The National Cemeteries in the U.S.A. are used for war graves, graves of U.S. military personnel, veterans and their spouses but not exclusively so. There are also special state veteran cemeteries.
Chalmette National Cemetery contains war graves of the War of 1812, American Civil War, the First and Second World War and the Korea and Vietnam Wars. It is also used to bury veterans of the World Wars and other wars. There are in total over 15,300 graves on this cemetery.
Chalmette National Cemetery contains one Commonwealth war grave from World War II.
