From the 12th to the 14th of May 1940, the village of Haut-le-Wastia and its surroundings were at the centre of a battle during which French and Belgian soldiers demonstrated an exemplary courage. The village was retaken twice (50 Germans were made prisoners) at the cost of heavy losses of men.
The last pocket of resistance will fall on the 14th of May to enemy tanks. The splendid Memorial and the Museum perpetuate their memory, 8 rooms with themes, historic objects, dummies, diorames, a mediation room, the war in the air, the tank fighting in Flavion, the forts of Namur and many more.
