Text on the memorial plaque:
"After 5 years of occupation and heavy fightings against the Germans, Deventer was liberated from the northeast and through this street on April 10th 1945, by units of the 7th Canadian Infantry Brigade, commanded by
Brigadier General Thomas Graeme Gibson (DSO-CBE-CFD)
For bravery, sense of duty and leadership, he was appointed on April 22th, 1945
Honorary citizen of the city of Deventer
In gratitude this street was renamed in T.G. Gibson Street. This plaque was unveiled on May 5th 2015 by Graeme Gibson (his son) together with Andries Heidema, Lord Mayor of Deventer."
