Memorial Stone Breestraat 80

One Memorial Stone was placed here on 30-04-2015 for:
* ALBERTUS NICOLAAS DEN OUDEN (murdered 10-2-1945, Nordhausen-Dora, 26 years old)

Albertus was a plumber. As a resistance fighter he was active in several resistance groups in and around Amersfoort. These groups were involved in espionage, sabotage, raids and helping Jews and allied pilots. Albertus was arrested on 22 November 1943 because he had been betrayed. He was imprisoned in the ‘Oranjehotel’ in Scheveningen and then in various concentration camps in the Netherlands and Germany. He was eventually killed in Nordhausen on 10 February 1945.

This memorial stone is here for a resistance fighter who was arrested, deported and/or murdered in the World War II.

These memorial stones are located here for victims of National Socialism (Nazism). They are often placed as an alternative to the official Stolpersteine of the Gunter Demnig project. Where there is no Stolperstein but people still want to commemorate, a slightly different memorial stone or plague is used. The memorials are in most cases laid in front of the last known home address of the victims.
