This monument in the cemetery commemorates the civilians who died in three (allied) bombing raids on Sliedrecht during World War II. On 8 July 1940, an attempt to hit ships in the harbour resulted in a total of 8 deaths. On 15 October 1944, bombs fell in the vecinity of the station, resulting in 1 death. On 1 January 1945, the port and adjacent shipyards were again targeted. In 2 bombings that day, a total of 8 people were killed.
