The Ordnungspolizei shoots around haphazardly upon arrival in Musselkanaal, hitting Gretel in the stomach. The doctor Harm van Klinken is quickly on the spot, but he is not allowed to take Gretel to the hospital. Eventually the Germans promise to take Grietje to the hospital, after which they take her in the robbery car. Outside the village, on the Veldwachterslaan in Mussel, they shoot Grietje several times in the head. Her body is taken and is still missing to this day.
