He was a member of the National Organization for Aid to People in Hiding and thus had two resistance fighters in hiding. During a razzia in the Baptist church he was arrested and taken to the Scholtenhuis, where he was severely beaten. He was taken to the Onstwedderweg in the car, thrown out of the car and shot by Robert Lehnhoff.
