Commonwealth War Graves St. Martin Churchyard

The historic cemetery St Martin Churchyard contains 7 Commonwealth war graves from World War I and 4 from World War II.

One of the graves belongs to Lieutenant Vernon James Austin, born 21 November 1893 and killed at La Bassee in France on 26 January 1915. He came from a very wealthy family that owned the car factory of the same name and was one of the few Allied soldiers killed overseas whose bodies were brought back to the UK for private burial.
