German War Cemetery Cheb

Large spacious area. In addition to the Czech graves, some old German graves have also been preserved on the Catholic cemetery. This war cemetery for German war dead in the Second World War in the Czech Republic was established by the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e. V. established between 2008 and 2010. The city of Cheb made the area available in the city cemetery for this purpose. In the meantime, 5,711 dead have been buried here. Among them are also numerous people whose identity unfortunately could not be determined. Further embeddings will follow. Once the work has been completed, over 7,700 war dead will rest here. The names and dates of the dead identified by the Volksbund are recorded on grave crosses. The names of the war dead buried here are written on the podium. They could not be identified directly, but are buried in the cemetery. A special memorial book also contains the names of the war dead who were not to be rescued during the reburial.
