The Erich Maria Remarque-Friedenszentrum (peace center) is dedicated to the writer Erich Maria Remarque (born in Osnabrück), writer of the famous book "All quiet on the Western Front" and his peace messages. He was expelled from Germany by the Nazis in 1939.
The building (Ameldungsche Löwenapotheke) in which the museum stands was destroyed in 1944 and rebuild in 1958.
