Memorial Crash Lancaster Bomber

On 22 June 2009 - 65 years after the crask of a Lancaster Bomber on 22 June 1944 - this memorial was erected to commemorate the crew, to honour their sacrifice for our freedom. Their aircraft was Avro Lancaster I, LL840 VN-M of 50 Sqdn RAF based at Skellingthorpe.

Two crewmembers were killed, three were captured and became POW's. One member was shot on 2 October 1944, together with 6 members of the Apeldoorn resistance group and two crewmembers managed to go to England again.
