The Atlantic Wall Weapons & Ammunition Museum Foundation is housed in Museum Bunker 644 on Fort Island in IJmuiden.
Our museum can be visited on all public days (first Sunday of the months of March to November) of the Fort Island.
For dates, times and entrance costs, see www.ijmuidenserondvaart.nl. There are three departures to the island and three from the island. You can choose which of the three return trips you take. So you have the option to stay on the Fort Island all day.
A visit to our museum is part of a visit to Fort Island, so you do not pay an extra entrance fee.
The official goal of St. AWMM is:
setting up, maintaining and expanding a museum in order to give as broad a picture as possible of the development and techniques of weapons and ammunition and defense works in general and those used in and around the Atlantic Wall in particular and furthermore everything that is directly or indirectly related to or can be conducive to all this, all in the broadest sense of the word.
In short, we want to show (on the basis of dolls and other accessories) how the weapons and ammunition were used in the Atlantic Wall. St. AWMM uses the collections of its members.
At the moment you can see in the museum which weapons and ammunition were used in Festung IJmuiden, as well as the uniforms worn.
St. AWMM is always looking for items from the period 1935-1945 to expand its collection.
