Memorial Liberation Vroomshoop

The text on the plaque:

At this place Vroomshoop was liberated on 5 April 1945 by the Manitoba
Dragoons from Canada. Thus preventing the execution at the Zwolse kanaal of a group of citizens taken hostage.
The resistance fighter Gerrit Jan Kerkdijk was killed here that day during gunfight with the Germans.
