Mamayev Hill - T-34/76 Gun Turret

There are numerous T-34/76 turrets, converted to memorials, spread across the city of Volgograd, indicating the location of former frontlines and other memorable places. This T-34/76 gun turret is standing on top of the Mamayev hill, which was the site of heavy fighting during the Battle of Stalingrad. The inscription on the memorial reads:

"Here on Mamayev Hill, in the days of the Great Battle of Stalingrad, the most persistent and bloody battles for possession of the dominant height over the city took place."
