Crash Site Martin B-26B-15-MA Marauder 41-31625 "Hells Fury"

The Memorial "Hell's Fury" is a reminder of the crash on 13-12-1943 in Aalsmeer during World War II.

The American Air Force bomber that was on its way to Schiphol Airport crashed here on December 13, 1943 after being hit by German anti-aircraft fire.
Six of the seven crew members died in the crash.
Captain Raymond P. Sanford survived the tragedy and was made a prisoner of war by the German occupiers.

WING IS REMOVED FROM THE FUEL, ENGINE AND ALL
RIPPED. THE MAURADER B-26 SHOOTS LIKE ONE
COMET DOWN AND IN AN BURNOUT
OF FIRE NOT FAR FROM HERE TO CRUSH.
ONLY PILOT SANFORD SURVIVES.
