Memorial Lancaster Borken

This memorial was unveiled in 2005 on the spot where a Lancaster of the RAF's 617th Squadron "Dambuster" crashed on 16 May 1943.

This Lancaster AJ-B of officer Astell flew into the top of a high voltage pylon here. These high voltage pylons are still there. With your back to the monument, at 02:00 you will see the ill-fated mast that decided the death of 7 young heroes.
