Monument Internment Camp for Spanish Republicans Argelés

On this memorial stone on the boulevard the following text is written:

In memoriam of 100 000 Republican Spaniards detained in the camp of Argelés during the Retirada (exodus of Republicans from Spain) of February 1939. Their misfortune: having to fight to defence the republic against fascism in Spain from 1936 to 1939. Free people, don’t forget us.
